Garden Work is Good Work

A gorgeous aster, that hits the weather hard each year. It gets too tall, and flops over especially with torrential rains. But it has its moments, and I enjoy seeing its charming bright pink color among the starting to brown edges of the garden. It is a great delight.

Look close at the clear area. It is an Autumn Fern!!! My first attempt at growing this as a transplant in my shade garden. It will make for some color when all the hostas are not in bloom. It is very tiny now, hardly noticeable but will grow and hopefully spread in years to come.

Another job well done! Some chartreuse hostas from behind the pond which were being crowded by ferns have a new home. They will cap the front driveway area as a low ground cover, making the transition from lawn easy.
