The winter is passing. First there is a glimmer of light in the afternoon, that cold slanting light that is quite different from the frosty chill of deep December. It portends that things are swiftly changing. Things are stirring. Bulbs are poking their trembling green above the ground. Soon it will be time to seek out the Snowy white galanthus in the back yard.
Right now, though, it is quite muddy out there. Not a good time to possibly compress the soil while walking on it. Maybe in a couple of days it will be wiser to go out there and check for green!
